While studying piano at the Toulouse Conservatory, Yvan Garcia discovered early music under Yasuko Uyama-Bouvard (harpsichord) and Laurence Boulay (basso continuo). He graduated from Jan-Willem Jansen’s class and joined the class of Elisabeth Joyé in Paris, where he obtained a First Prize in the harpsichord. At the same time, he perfected his performance practice with Pierre Hantaï.

Yvan Garcia is a professor of the harpsichord and harpsichord accompaniment at the Early Music Department of the Regional Conservatory of Paris (CRR). He has also taught harpsichord and chamber music at conservatories in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, Meaux, Chaumont, and during the Amilly and Barbaste early music workshops.

 

He is a continuist in several orchestras: Les Passions (J.M. Andrieu), the orchestral ensemble "A bout de souffle" (Stéphane Delincak), La Révérence (C.Coin), and Le Parnasse Français (Louis Castelain), with which he has traveled across the world (Europe, Asia, Russia, South America, Africa).

He often gives solo recitals and plays in harpsichord duos (with François Guerrier).

His interest in the voice has led him to collaborate with Isabelle Poulenard, Howard Crook, Guillemette Laurens, Emmanuelle de Negri, and Adriana Fernandez.
